Dear Committee in Favor of Measure C Members,

You may have noticed some of our signs throughout McKinleyville  however, we still need to put up more.  I have signs available at the district office and would like all volunteers to stop by this week and pick up signs to put up in around their neighborhood.  We only have three weeks until the election!

All endorsement forms need to be turned into Barb Kelly on Monday- tomorrow.  If it is easier, just drop off any endorsement forms at the district office.

Thursday I spoke to Rotary about Measure C.   I picked up one additional endorsement.  I am still working on the FAQ sheet that will be ready on Monday for the committtee and others. Thursday - May 15th is also Measure C Information Night at Dow's Prairie Library (6:00).

I am still in desperate need of volunteers for the precinct walking on May 17th.  Let me know if you are able to attend.

Thank you,

Dena McCullough

Information Letter

Citizens in Favor of Measure  C

The McKinleyville Union School District is dedicated to the success of our students and of our schools.  Yet we face significant challenges in financing the educational programs that our students need.  To ensure we have the resources needed to maintain and improve our learning environment, our dedicated school board has decided to pursue a bond election in June 2008.

If passed, the bond measure, Measure C, would bring over $14,000,000 to our schools, specifically supporting the following, among many other projects:

    • Repair or replace leaking and aging roofs at all three schools.
    • Increase energy efficiency at school by replacing outdated windows with high efficiency windows at all schools.
    • Replace outdated boilers at schools with furnaces that are energy efficient.
    • Replace and improve outdated plumbing and water systems at all schools.
    • Replace existing fences with higher fences at school perimeters to increase student safety.
    • Increase safety at all school sites by installing public address system.
    • Provide and improve access for emergency vehicles.
    • Improve technology by providing increased access to the internet.
    • Renovate 6-8 grade Science classrooms.
    • Repair or replace existing bathrooms at all schools to bring them up to current safety and accessibility codes.
    • Repair, renovate and expand library and computer labs at all schools
    • Repair and renovate the multi-purpose rooms at all schools.
    • Renovate and repair outside fields at each school to increase safety for students and community.
    • Purchase and install safe play equipment at all schools
    • Construct a joint-use gymnasium for McKinleyville Union School District for student and community use.

Volunteers in support of Measure C have formed a private campaign committee, Citizens in Favor of Measure C (ID # 26-2270375), to get the word out to voters about the need to pass this measure, and we must raise private donations in order to finance the Measure C campaign.

We are requesting your help. We hope you will make a donation to help finance our bond campaign.  Your contribution will help us to achieve our goals of a successful election and ultimately improve the lives of McKinleyville Union School District school children. Please send your contribution to:
